Why did you choose Point Park?

After transferring from two other universities, I finally found my home at Point Park. From the second I visited campus, I realized that I was among people like myself. Point Park has a unique community filled with talented and welcoming individuals who know how to speak their truth. Aside from having an excellent cinema program that I was interested in, I realized that Point Park was also everything I needed in regards to location and just overall feel.

How are you involved on campus?

Throughout my time in college I’ve participated in a few things here and there, but I have been predominantly involved in the Honors Program, the John P. Harris Film Society and the United Student Government. I have met good friends through these organizations while creating some great events and programs for the University.

How has your position as a Resident Educator helped you become a better student and professional?

Being a Resident Educator has helped me become more responsible, organized, accountable for my actions and understanding of others. The position is at times challenging, but has prepared me to better analyze and solve problems effectively. Overall, a certain confidence has been instilled in me from this role that I now apply to every area of my life.

How is Point Park preparing you for the next steps in your life?

Point Park has prepared me by challenging me to become in-tune with who I really am and what I really want out of life. Aside from living right Downtown (which in and of itself has prepared me for my future), Point Park has provided me with many opportunities to discover who I am. I have been introduced to and befriended by some excellent people, I have failed and succeeded, and I have challenged the way I think in every way possible.

What is your favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh in the spring?

In the spring I think my favorite thing to do is to go to Schenley Park in Oakland with friends and just walk around. I love being in nature, and because I live right in Downtown Pittsburgh, relaxing in Schenley is the best way to revel in the outdoors.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

I think that the best advice I could give would be to simply embrace who you are and live every moment to its fullest. Do what you want to do and make sure to grow from those experiences. Go outside your comfort zone, speak to others and make friends outside of your typical bubble. Nothing in life comes from being comfortable all the time.
